This spacious, airy apartment in a beautiful listed apartment building at St.Hanshaugen, Oslo, was given a full-scale refurbishment. The general layout was only slightly altered, original, tiny bathroom was doubled in size, all door openings extended and every surface renewed. The old kitchen cabinet frames were reused, reshuffled, and new custom fronts in oiled, ash veneer and new stone worktops from Dekton. A muted color palette was added throughout to create a warm, inviting atmosphere - suited for both relaxation and social events.

Gutting to the core and improving flow in the floor plans by adding a more centralized, bespoke staircase with integrated storage and without degrading functionality, adding a new double height section above the dining area - creating an airy, eight meter ridge height. A muted, scandinavian material palette consisting of light gypsum plaster, douglas fir flooring, larch and spruce veneer and black steel in custom lamps, railings and fireplace details.

An Oslo restaurant and coffee shop that is a canteen for workers by day, and an atmospheric bar in the evening. Dugurd Kantiner is a collaboration between restaurateur Lava Oslo and the canteen company Du Godeste. They aim to create amazing food for high-end restaurants in Oslo’s office buildings. Dugurd’s pilot project, set in the beautiful 1950s headquarters of real estate developer Braathen Eiendom, is Restaurant Haakon. Dugurd approached us to design the new restaurant in the huge concrete lobby at the base of the building. Our brief was to create a timeless and flexible space that worked with the existing architecture of the building, with «the flavours of ‘1950s Cuba meets Mad Men» but robust enough to weather passing trends. The project won 1st. prize at Designers Saturday Awards 2019

Arkwright, an international management consultancy based in Norway, asked us to design their Oslo base within an old shipbuilding workshop on the harbourfront at Aker Brygge. The brick building, with distinctive arched windows, was first refurbished as a workspace in the 1980s. Our task was to create a characterful place within the very generic existing fit-out, combining formal workspaces for 45 team members with more informal areas to meet and socialise. Our key idea was to add a single, sculptural intervention into the double-height space that acts simultaneously as a reception desk, wardrobe, space divider, stair and amphitheatre. Staff and visitors enter on the top floor, descending into the social space and then the main office, via this multipurpose structure.

This interior project for a large, 300-room hotel and conferencing venue, is inspired by the Norwegian forests, whereby timber is used throughout in different ways to create semi-permeable screens, cladding to cores, a bespoke square-log reception and bar, right down to details such as signage and loose furniture. The primary design strategy was to rationalize a complex set of interconnecting spaces and functions, providing consistent themes and architectural tectonics, but variety and specific "installations" to define each space from the next. The main communal space of the hotel is understood through a simple architectural theme, the "big floor", which is then subtly sub-divided into zones to define the lobby, from the restaurant/canteen to private dining, lounge/library and conference lobby.

With a newly acquired loft space above their top-floor apartment in a 19th-century apartment building in Oslo, our client commissioned us to carry out a full-scale refurbishment. Our brief was to connect and unify the two floors, creating a single space that made best use of the available volume. The design aimed to optimize the use of every nook and cranny, with a bespoke stairwell becoming a centerpiece and integral part of the design. Throw in custom lamps, creative use of floor levels and a sober, nordic color- and material palette, and it resulted in this playful and unique penthouse for the young couple.

We were commissioned by Thommessen - one of Norway’s leading commercial law firms, to design their new meeting- and conference centre on the top floor of the beautiful, listed, mid-century gem Haakon VII's gate 10. The main concept: subtly mimicking mountain cabins in a wintery Norwegian landscape - with a colder, winter landscape scheme in common areas and break-out-spaces, and a warmer, wooden cabin-like feel for the meeting rooms. Snowlike terrazzo flooring paired with bespoke stylized, snowflake-embossed zinc wall panels and curved, custom made plaster column capitals as an organic mediator between columns and ceiling, and the illusion is complete.
